Adnan Adil

Spring 2010 Research Fellow

Adnan Adil Zaidi is a Lahore-based journalist, consultant and researcher. Starting his career in 1990 as a news reporter with national weekly, Viewpoint, Adnan worked over the years as correspondent for a number of Pakistani publications including monthly Newsline, weekly The Friday Times and daily The News besides working for BBC World Service. During his career in the print media, he contributed to national press dozens of investigative reports on the issues of corruption, governance, human rights and public safety in Pakistan. Adnan has also served as the roaming correspondent for Pakistan’s largest news television network, Geo News. In 2008, he was awarded a Knight International Journalism Fellowship, where he worked with ARY News in Karachi on staff training and restructuring. As part of the Knight Fellowship program, he also published a book on television journalism (Urdu), “Television Sahafat,” which is the only contemporary book on the subject in Urdu language.

Currently, Adnan is working as a freelance writer for Pakistani daily The News and US-based news website Centralasiaonline.com. He also works as media consultant for the Pakistani non-governmental organization, Human Rights Commission of Pakistan. Adnan Adil holds a B.A. in Political Science from Punjab University.
